Mechanism of Action:
Haloperidol is a butyrophenone derivative that blocks dopamine receptors in the brain.
Uses:
It's used for the treatment of schizophrenia, acute psychosis, and for tics and vocal utterances of Tourette's syndrome.
Side Effects:
Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, and dry mouth. More severe side effects include extrapyramidal symptoms and tardive dyskinesia.
