Unit 1
Biomolecules & Bioenergetics
In biochemistry notes, Unit 1 covers carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, amino acids, and nucleic acids, each with unique structures and biological roles. Furthermore, bioenergetics covers free energy, redox potential, endergonic and exergonic reactions, and the importance of ATP and cyclic AMP in energy transfer.

Unit 2
Carbohydrate metabolism & Biological Oxidation
Here Unit II covers carbohydrate metabolism: glycolysis, citric acid cycle, HMP shunt, gluconeogenesis, glycogen metabolism, GSDs, and glucose regulation in diabetes. It also includes biological oxidation, ETC, oxidative phosphorylation, and uncouplers.

Unit 3
Lipid & Amino Acid Metabolism
Unit III covers lipid metabolism including β-oxidation of palmitic acid, ketone body formation and ketoacidosis, and de novo fatty acid synthesis. Additionally, it highlights cholesterol’s role and conversion, along with disorders like hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, fatty liver, and obesity.

Unit 4
Nucleic acid metabolism and genetic information Transfer
Unit IV covers nucleic acid metabolism, including purine and pyrimidine biosynthesis, purine catabolism, hyperuricemia, and gout. It also explains DNA/RNA structure, genome organization, DNA replication, transcription, genetic code, translation, and inhibitors of protein synthesis.
Unit 5
Enzymes
This Unit covers enzymes, their properties, nomenclature, and IUB classification. It explains enzyme kinetics using Michaelis and Lineweaver-Burk plots, types of enzyme inhibitors, regulation mechanisms, and roles of coenzymes. Therapeutic and diagnostic uses of enzymes and isoenzymes are also discussed.
