1. Anti-Tubercular Agents
- Synthetic Agents:
- Isoniazid, Ethionamide, Ethambutol, Pyrazinamide, Para-amino salicylic acid: Inhibit mycobacterial cell wall synthesis or metabolism.
- Antibiotics:
- Rifampicin, Rifabutin: RNA synthesis inhibitors.
- Cycloserine, Streptomycin, Capreomycin sulfate: Inhibit protein or cell wall synthesis.
2. Urinary Tract Anti-Infective Agents
- Quinolones:
- SAR includes substitutions enhancing potency and spectrum.
- Examples: Nalidixic acid, Norfloxacin, Enoxacin, Ciprofloxacin, Ofloxacin, Lomefloxacin, Sparfloxacin, Moxifloxacin.
- Miscellaneous:
- Furazolidine, Nitrofurantoin: Effective in urinary tract infections.
- Methenamine: Releases formaldehyde in acidic urine.
3. Antiviral Agents
- Anti-influenza: Amantadine, Rimantadine.
- Anti-herpes: Idoxuridine, Acyclovir, Ganciclovir.
- Anti-HIV (NRTIs/NNRTIs/Protease Inhibitors):
- Zidovudine, Didanosine, Zalcitabine, Lamivudine, Loviride, Delavirdine.
- Protease Inhibitors: Saquinavir, Indinavir, Ritonavir.
- Others: Ribavirin: Broad-spectrum antiviral
