1. Drugs Acting on Respiratory System
a. Anti-asthmatic drugs
- Bronchodilators: β2 agonists (salbutamol), anticholinergics (ipratropium), methylxanthines (theophylline).
- Anti-inflammatory: Corticosteroids, leukotriene antagonists, mast cell stabilizers.
b. COPD drugs
- Long-acting bronchodilators (LABA, LAMA).
- Inhaled corticosteroids (severe cases).
- Phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitors.
c. Expectorants & Antitussives
- Expectorants: guaifenesin, potassium iodide (increase secretion).
- Antitussives: codeine, dextromethorphan (suppress cough reflex).
d. Nasal decongestants
- Sympathomimetics (oxymetazoline, pseudoephedrine). Reduce mucosal edema via vasoconstriction.
e. Respiratory stimulants
- Doxapram, nikethamide. Act on medullary centers to stimulate breathing.
2. Drugs Acting on Gastrointestinal Tract
a. Antiulcer agents
- Antacids, H2 blockers (ranitidine), proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole), cytoprotectives.
b. Constipation & diarrhoea
- Laxatives: bulk (psyllium), stimulant (senna).
- Antidiarrheals: loperamide, ORS.
c. Appetite regulators
- Stimulants: corticosteroids, cyproheptadine.
- Suppressants: sibutramine (withdrawn), orlistat.

- Emetics: apomorphine, ipecac.
