Mechanism of Action:

  • Full agonist at μ-opioid receptors
  • Causes inhibition of adenylate cyclase, ↓ cAMP, ↑ K⁺ efflux, ↓ Ca²⁺ influx → neuronal hyperpolarization → inhibition of pain transmission
