Rules for Performance of Experiments:

  1. Approval by CPCSEA:

    • No experiments should be performed without obtaining prior approval from CPCSEA or IAEC.
  2. Purpose of Experiment:

    • Experiments must be conducted only if:
      a) Scientific Justification is provided.
      b) No alternative methods (like simulations) are available.
  3. Minimization of Pain:

    • Experiments should use anesthetics or painkillers to reduce suffering.
  4. Post-experiment Care:

    • Animals should either be rehabilitated or euthanized humanely if they cannot survive post-experimentation.
  5. Records Maintenance:

    • Detailed records of experiments must be maintained and submitted for review.
